Fr. Tony Haycock, Chaplain Emeritus
The Rev. Anthony Haycock has been known all around Seattle for his many years of multifaceted ministry in our community. Fr. Tony, as he is known, has been the Catholic Port Chaplain at our Seafarers' Center for nearly two decades. A native of the UK who spent his early years in Ireland, Fr. Tony divided his time between our center and ministry as the Parochial Vicar at the multicultural St. Mary's Catholic Church and Hispanic Community in the Central District. He and the other Ship Visitors at our center work to meet the spiritual and practical needs of seafarers of all religions - or none - visiting or resident in Seattle.
Other ministry has included work with Operation Nightwatch, a housing program for the homeless in Seattle, and continued advocacy for the poor and marginalized in our community.
In 2007, Fr. Tony was honored with the Maritime Achievement Award from the Propeller Club of Seattle. In 2010, he was given the Gertrude Apel Pioneering Spirit Award by the Church Council of Greater Seattle. In 2015, the Propeller Club again honored Fr. Tony by establishing the Father Tony Haycock Memorial Scholarship.
